The next in the list of Preserves is Rasam Powder.
The proportion vary people to people . I used to have
two types of this powder, one to make plain rasam
and another for Paruppu rasam. Here goes the recipe
for Paruppu rasam.
Ingredients
Coarinader seeds - 2 cups
Toor dal - 1/2 cup
Red chillies - 1 cup
Cumin seeds - 1/2 cup
Curry leaves - a bunch
Whole pepper - 2 tblsp
Mustard - 2 tsp
Method
- Dry roast each ingredient separetely in a kadai.
- Cool down completely and grind it to a nice powder in the mixie.
- Store in a air tight container in the fridge.

I prepare them almost the same, but never used mustard seeds...looks really different..thanks for sharing..

I will prepare it as you have told. Never prepared my own rasam powder before.
Rasam is something which does sound easy to make but to get the right taste you need to work hard on the masala..I usually make freshly ground masala..got to try your version of making the powder!!
