Vazhakkai ( plantain ) stir fry

A simple stir fry and perfect for the great
lunch menu.This is another dish I used to
cook whenever Amma leaves the city before
marriage.
Ingredients
Vazhakkai - 1
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Onions - 1 chopped
Method
  • Peel the skin of plantain and chop it into thin slices.
  • Heat oil in a nonstick pan.
  • Add onions and saute well . Add curry leaves.
  • To this add chopped Vazhakkai and mix well.
  • Add all the powders and salt one by one and saute well.
  • Keep stirring in between.
  • If you want crispier fry for 5 more min in a low flame.

I add only chili powd and salt and fry! Quick one isn't it!

I add riceflour to give more crispiness, never thought of adding onion...

Not too much of oil and they look so good a perfect side for rice...

I too make poriyal with raw banana, my husband loves it a lot :)
